Beverages

We went to one of our family friend's house for a 4th of July party. It was fantastic. Their fireworks display was really good, and they had a pinyata afterward.

But before all that, and before dinner I had a cup in my hand that I wanted to throw away. So I went to the closest garbage can that I saw. It was next to the grill with a metal can and lid, I saw a black tube laying over half of it, but didn't think much of it. I noticed there were 4 men, all whom I knew, standing around it and talking merrily. I squeezed between two of then lifted the lid tossed the now dilapidated cup in without even a peek inside, and started to go back to my friends.

Mr. Carpenter turns to me and says, "Uh, Katie, that isn't garbage."
With my hands on my hips and an expression that was calling his bluff, I replied,
"Oh, really. It isn't, huh?"
"No, I am serious, look under the lid."

By this time I was starting to consider the possibility that he wasn't teasing. I saw that same black tube laying sullenly across the lid. I opened the lid and there, lo and behold, was a beer mixer, surrounded by ice. I made a short, quiet squeal of embarrassment. And all the men there laughed and had no hesitation in teasing me about it. They had a lot of fun with that. I can't remember how they teased me, but they did.
