Mike drove Moira to the airport, said goodbye when she reached the security line and waited until she was out of sight before going back to the car. But he didn't just walk... he ran! He had to catch his plane, the same flight as Moira's! She was flying to Phoenix, AZ for a family reunion and he decided to surprise her there.Since he knew that she would recognize him if he wore his normal clothes, he changed into something that he was less recognizable in. So, he wore a grey hooded sweatshirt, jeans, a faded olive-green hat, head phones and sunglasses.
Mike grabbed his things, went through security and walked to his gate. He looked around for Moira and saw her sitting against the wall of the waiting area. He decided to browse around in a few stores so that Moira couldn't see him. When he came back he couldn't see Moira, so he sat down. Time passed and he was surprised that passengers weren't boarding, yet. Just then a voice over the PA called, "Last call for Michael Lawless." He was puzzled for a moment because he couldn't see anyone at the gate who looked as if he were speaking on the PA. Then he looked at the gate number and realized that he had been waiting at the wrong one! Needless to say he darted over to his gate and boarded the plane.
So, Mike slung his bag over his shoulder, walked down the aisle of the plane, keeping Moira in sight once he saw her and sat down a few rows behind her. Mike looked so different in his sunglasses and head phones that when he sat next to a little boy his mom asked the boy to trade places with her. Mike overheard this and said, "Ma'am, just to let you know, I don't usually dress like this. I'm surprising my girlfriend. Look, my head phones aren't even plugged into anything." He pulled the cord out of his sweatshirt and, sure enough, it wasn't attached to anything. The mom visibly relaxed.
The plane landed, Moira got off and Mike called Mr. Heffernan, who knew that Mike was coming. They met near the elevator to a parking garage and Mr. Heffernan told him where to find the car. Then Mike changed back into the clothes that Moira had last seen him in and he hid behind a pillar and waited for Moira (and her family) to come.
Once they passed him, he waited a few seconds before walking a little ways behind them. Then someone happened to turn around and vaguely recognized him saying, "Mike?!" Moira immediately turned around and with an amazed expression on her face asked, "How did you get here?!" She couldn't talk for five minutes when she heard that Mike had been on the same plane with her the whole time!
This is the kind of outfit that he wore, but it didn't stand out quite so much.

I love the mixture of the shirt, with the glasses, hat, and headphones. I wouldn't want my kid to sit next to him either.
I agree. I certainly wouldn't want to sit next to someone like that!
Wouldn't it have been terrible if Mike had missed the plane? Oh, the reason that Moira didn't hear them say, "Mike Lawless" on the PA is that she was already boarded!
