After the Aquarium on Thursday we all went to one of the parks in Tulsa. We being Mom, Marie, Grandma, Thomas, Daniel, John and I.
We had regular ham sandwiches with mustard and some REALLY good crackers for lunch. There were a number of play sets at the park we chose to go too. There were three little sets and one bigger kids set. Thomas, Daniel, Marie and I all meandered over to it. As I watched the kids run around as fast as they could by themselves, it was coming to the point where it was going to not be much fun. So I got up and we played hot lava monster. The basics of this game? I chase the little kids all over the place wearing myself out while the adults watch from a safe distance grateful that they weren't in my shoes but enjoying the situation all the more and the little kids run around frantically in their attempts to elude my clutches.
Originally, it started out with just Thomas, Daniel, Marie and I but not five minutes had passed before another kid wanted to play, then another and another. Soon the whole play set was crawling with kids screaming my name at the top of their lungs and running around in a jumbled and confusing mix of arms and feet.
One of the rules is that the hot lava monster (me) had to stay on the ground. I could reach through the poles and tag a kid or I could jump up and reach through the floor whenever possible. But the kids rarely hibernated for long in the safety of the highest level of the tower. They much rathered me chase them all over the place. That's all well and good but I am only one and there must have been at least seven kids playing and three of them - by sugar - were pretty fast!
Thankfully, I was saved by Mom who gave the five minute warning call just after I got Marie it. Eventually we mozied over to the other play set which was on our way to Kimosabi (our name for the suburban) and that's when we four older kids found this wonderful contraption. One of us four suddenly came up with the brilliant idea of swinging on it with both feet off the ground. It's hard to tell in the picture but we actually All got off the ground at the same time! It was AWESOME!
