The other day, I had my very first traumatic experience while driving a car. It was awful. Now, please, don't be alarmed, no one got hurt and I didn't even scratch the car. It's just rather sad. And it happened on Good Friday, too.
Sadly, I was the one driving at the time. Marie, Mom, Eilis, John and I were all headed into the little town of Tahlequah. After the almost constant rain the night before, the ground was sopping wet, the worms and caterpillars were everywhere, and the turtles came out to back in the sun. As I was driving along, minding my own business, there was a turtle on the far right side of the 1 lane high way. There was another car in the on the other side of the high way headed my way. We would passed each other right at the location of the turtle. I tried desperately to avoid him but on my right side there was a little ditch and on the other was the car headed in the opposite direction.
"Bump! Crunch!" The turtle was definitely flattened and now a permanent resident on the road, poor thing.
"You got him, Katie!" Mom nearly shrieked in a pretendingly shocked and sad tone.
Everyone else in the car: "AWWW! Katie! How could you do such a thing!"
"That's it!" Mom said while trying to maintain her somber composure. "Katie has a new nickname! Turtle Crusher!"
"Hey!" I objected in an indignant tone. "That's not fair! I couldn't avoid him with another car coming toward me!"
"Alright. You're right, Katie."
"Thank you."
"Wait!" John suddenly piped in. "I didn't get to see de Turtlw!"
"Don't worry, John. You'll get to see another one, but not that one!"
So, though it was a very traumatic experience, not to mention my first while driving, I at leave got the credit for not swerving into the other car. It would look rather silly if I winded up in the hospital when I tried to explain to Dad, "I didn't want to run over the turtle!"But thankfully, that didn't happen.
P.S. For those who don't know me very well, this whole post is more of a joke than an actual traumatic experience.

Don't worry, I laughed so hard. My first "traumatic" driving "experience" was a rabbit.
And btw, the next time I "see" you, I'm going to address you as "Turtle Crusher".
