As most of you probably know, on Wednesday, my family and I went to the Ozarks and rented a house on the edge of cove. Chris, Marie and I went in the first car, and had a blast. It was about a 4 hour trip, and we made good time. Most of the Heffernans were expecting us all to come around10:00 pm and were ignorant of the fact that we were taking two cars. So when Chris, Marie and I all arrived at about 7-ish, we surprised some of them. Hee hee. And I commend Mike because apparently, the night before we arrived Danny and Kevvy were grilling him about how many of us were coming and when. But Mike didn't give anything away.
We watched 'The Emperor's New Groove' the night we arrived, but not much else went on so most of us went to bed. The house was really nice, with 3 bedrooms, 6 couches, 2 extra beds, and lots of floor space. But to save you all the pain of long descriptions about the layout, which would be hard to, describe anyway, I'll just leave it at that.
The next day, Thursday the 12th, we did a lot of swimming. The dock was about 20-30 yards away from the house and down the hill. They had a HUGE floaty that they let us use, and Mr. Heffernan rented 4 kayaks. It was all a blast!
We all tried to stand up in the kayaks. At this point we were pretty close to the dock, and from there Dad would throw a football to the people standing up in the kayaks. And of course, one of the objectives of those who threw the ball was to throw it in such a way that the person sanding up in the kayak could catch it, but they would have to adjust their position which often would help them loose their balance and fall into the lake. At which point everyone burst out with laughter. But I won't give you any names, lest mine should be among them.
In the evening, after dinner we played Ninja, and some of Will's Game, (which was hilarious by the way,) while the parents were off on the kayaks for a romantic glide on the lake. After they got back the younger kids went to bed and the older went down to the dock and talked.
An hour or two later, we went to bed and dreamed about the next day.
