Museum (Sat 14 continued again)

There was an aquarium at the museum (I think it was on the second floor,) but it cost an extra five bucks for admittance. So, we didn't do that. But the third floor was open to all customers.

This was an awesome floor. When you first come up the stairs there is an old beat up grand piano, right in front of you. Past that was a huge room with old skate board half-tubes and cement half-domes. Of course, like everywhere else, we made ourselves quite at home. We all took turns running up the sides or around in the half-bowl.

To the right of that room was a room full of sponges. We built a huge wall, (which entertained an older by standing gentleman who was innocently watching us.) Then the older boys and I all took turns jumping over it. The old man enjoyed this splendidly. In fact, he was enjoying himself so much he took some pictures. But eventually, like so many things, the wall came to an abrupt end when a little tyke just walked deliberately straight through it, and down the wall came. 

But of course, we made do. We usually do. And at least the by-stander thought it was funny. A couple of us had a big sponge fight, (again, I won't give any names,) and knocked over someone else's castle while they were still building it (but that latter part's not important.)

After that, not much else happened. We saw a little circus show, comprised mainly of three young boys doing acrobatics and tricks; that was really cool to see. We went back to some of the places we had already been, and fooled around, but not much else. (At least by my reckoning.)

Soon Uncle Daniel came back from visiting with his sister (which was where he had been most of the day,) and we all went to 'Lion's Choice' for dinner. After that Uncle Daniel treated us all to 'Ted Drew's' (AKA: Ted Neddie's) for ice cream. And after much deliberation, it was decided that instead of Chris, Michelle, Marie, Bridget, and I all leaving that evening as planned, we were going to stay one more night!! Yippee!!

We saw Mike, Moira, and Anna off on their way home, and back to the hotel we went. Unfortunately, that weekend there was a prominent baseball game going on and the hotel we were in was completely booked except for the solitary room we had originally. We had already checked out of our other two rooms. So, we found a cheap room at another hotel and stayed.

The next morning was Sunday, of course. We all met at the Heffernan's hotel and caravanned to the St. Louis Catholic Basilica. It was gorgeous! It was so big, even when you whispered it echoed throughout the halls. After Mass, we looked around. One thing can be said about the Basilica; the air-conditioner worked really well. It was freezing inside! Soon we all went outside and played ninja right in front of the entrance, which probably didn't give a very good impression of Catholics to those passing on the street. But it was fun. And one of the two Franciscan monks who were watching us play said he had played it before. After a nice chat with them, we all packed up and Uncle Daniel treated us to Cracker Barrel for brunch. From there, the Lawless crew and Bridget went on our way to OK, and the rest of the Heffernans went to drop Remy off at the airport, and headed on their way home.

Thus ends one of the greatest vacations anyone could have had, regardless of the fact that we haven't been on very many. Haha! Just kidding! But you know, it just doesn't sound right, "Thus ENDS," so instead: "Thus begins the period between one vacation and the next! (Which, who knows, may be even better than the last!!)" Haha! Wouldn't you agree that sounds SO much better?! ;)
