"KITM"

Tonight, even though Katie wasn't here physically, she was certainly here in spirit, for we made up a new game and named it after her!  The idea is very old--a keep-away game with someone in the middle.  Allow me to "splain":)  Again, with the lid of a gallon ice cream bucket, Thomas, Marie, Daniel, John and I were playing frisbee in the front room, throwing it ever so gently.  Then, somehow, after Thomas caught it, he gave a maniacal laugh and became very possessive of the frisbee.  Suddenly, Daniel pipes up and says, "Throw it here, Thomas!"  Then Marie intercepted it and threw it to me!  It immediately morphed into Thomas in the middle of the room and everyone else throwing it out of his reach.  When he finally caught it, the last person who threw it took his place in the middle.  Surprisingly, John was a very competent competitor and had his own time in the middle a few times and even Dad joined in the fun.  It sure was intimidating when Tim tried to block a throw by standing directly in front of me, but I managed to get the throw clear of his waving arms.  We made a special allowance for John when he was in the middle since he was becoming tired of running to the person who held the disc.  As the one in the middle, if he touched you before you threw it, he'd be released and you'd have to be in the middle.  It was entirely too much fun, so much fun that John cried when we said we had to stop.  Oh, we named it "KITM" which stands for "Katie In The Middle".  We miss her so much!!
