Singers that Sang

Well, we had another concert early this afternoon and it went even better than the other two we previously had.

The first one we had for a spaghetti dinner. Even though there were some people listening to us, we didn't feel very appreciated for our time and effort. Our location in the room wasn't very good either, which didn't help.

Our next concert was a lot better than the first in the sense that people really listened to us and we did feel like we were touching people.

But I think I enjoying singing today the most. We were singing at a Catholic Charities institution while people  were picking up their Christmas Charity dinners. There was a constant stream of volunteers going in and out carrying the bundles for people. We sang about 12 songs 3 times in a row, in a time frame of about 2 hours. Yes, it was a little strenuous on the vocal cords, especially because the room we were singing in was pretty cramped. But it was definitely worth it.

When we were finished singing and people were finished applauding, all the choir members and their families were given a tour of the Charity buildings. There were lots of rooms and extra space. There were so many hallways, even I almost got lost a couple times. (OK, maybe I am not the best example, but it had a LOT of hallways and byways and any other ways you can think of. AND the bathroom wasn't symmetrically shaped; not that that was something you really needed to know, but what's with it?....Moving on.) They had an office that alternated from being a dentist office, to being a Doctor's office, to being a pregnancy center. It was mainly worked by volunteers who had skills in these fields. Helping people in need was something all the volunteers seemed to really enjoy.

It was really a blessing to be able to sing and touch the lives of so many people who are having a hard time in this Christmas season.
