GRAB THE DOGS!!!

We were all sitting down to dinner, just this evening, except for Dad; he was still at Aamco. The usual weird dinner conversation ensued, comprising this time of remembering a cartoon that we watched a long time ago.

All of a sudden Mom said with deep concern in her voice, "Oh boy. Get the dogs to the back door RIGHT now!" Adrenaline for everyone goes up by about 10 notches. In case anyone doesn't know this already, we do have mountain lions out here. They are rarely seen, but because they are the most dangerous thing out here, that was the first thing that popped into Marie's and mine heads. But instead Mom yelled, "There are wild  boar out there!!"

I called the dogs in from the back porch, and Mom and I went on the front deck to watch them. From then on there was a lot of commotion in the house, but the end to this story is pretty anti-climatic. The boars were a bore, and ran away as soon as we all came tromping out the front door, (the big ninnies.) There were four of them, 2 large ones and 2 small-ish ones. They were on the far side of our driveway in plain view of the front of the house. We couldn't tell if they had tusks or not.

I went down there soon after they high-tailed it out of there and found they left some memoirs of their visit to our ranch. And I didn't step in any either, no, they left their marks on our ground by digging up the damp barren soil where the round hay bale used to be. So, it wasn't all that exciting. But, better for it not to be exciting than for it to be an experience that we all regret. And especially considering how some boars have been know to grow tusks up to a foot long!
