Bad Words

In our house, as I am sure you all know well enough, there is no swearing. In fact, I doubt if the little boys know even a single swear word. In our home schooled-sheltered house-hold, 'stupid' it the 'S' word, 'dumb' is the 'D' word and.....I don't think they know any more like that. Some exceptions to this general rule is 'hell.' They know it is a word not to be used loosely, but I don't think they classify it as a swear word, since they don't seem to have defined what a swear word is.

Any way, the other day, the boys were watching 'Sleeping Beauty' (or as John calls it 'Sweeping Ba-luty'.) When it got to the part when Maleficent changes into the dragon and and she yells, "Now you must deal with me, oh Prince! And all the powers of Hell!!" As she screamed out "..All the powers of ...." Thomas, Daniel and Marie all chimed in simultaneously. But when it got to the last word everyone yelled, "BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!!!!!!" instead. At the same time John (who was watching also,) gathered from this was that everyone in the room suddenly were making a lot of noise. And since he is not one to miss out on any fun, joined in screaming, "AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!" So, the quote (by Lawless definition, ) went "And all the powers of Beep/Ahh!" (Which in my opinion wasn't as formidable, but it was a lot more humorous.)

No sooner had Maleficent started cackling with her blood-curdling laughter, than everyone stopped, laughed a little, Thomas pointed out how funny the situation was, Marie went back to doing her dishes and the boys continued to calmly watch the movie.
