Thomas, Oh, Thomas!

In case not all of you know, Thomas makes for a wonderful sport in teasing. Marie and I found that out from previous experiences, but today's only confirmed it.

No sooner had Thomas put the VHS of Jesus of Nazareth and pressed play than Marie had secretly ejected it with the controller. Now this wasn't much surprising to any of us, including Thomas, for our VCR had a habit of doing that perhaps a couple of times before the movie actually started. But Marie and I were prepared to take this way too far. No sooner had he pushed it back in and started for his seat, when it mysteriously ejected again!

Now I will admit it. It took ME a little while to realize what was really happening; Marie was doing a very good job of it.

But after doing this about ten more times, and a while after I figured it out, I pushed it in myself and with a meaningful wink at Marie, said with confidence, "It won't do it again now, guys!" Then Marie, with a secret mischievous smile at me pressed the eject button again.

Needless to say she and I, especially, had a marvelous time of it all. Marie even went so far as to suggest putting a string with a slip-knot around the front of the VCR and when it ejected, simply pull on the string tightening the knot and pushing the movie back in without you having to get up and push it in yourself. Because poor Thomas, although he was having a great time laughing at how ridiculous it was that it kept on happening, he pretended to be getting tired from going back and forth.

But when that didn't work, the VCR seemed to be doing much better and Marie and I pretty much stopped. But to this time, I don't think Thomas knows the trick Marie and I played so well on him. Perhaps we'll tell him on April first. Heehee.
